Return on Assets (ROA)
Profit generated per dollar of the company’s total assets — how well it uses everything it owns to make money. Unlike ROE, it isn’t flattered by debt, so it’s a cleaner read on raw operating efficiency. Asset-light businesses (software) post high ROA; asset-heavy ones (manufacturers, utilities) run lower, so compare within a sector.
