Return on Equity (ROE)
How much profit the company generates for each dollar of shareholder equity — a core measure of how efficiently management turns owners’ money into earnings. Consistently high ROE is a hallmark of a quality business, but check the debt level: heavy borrowing can inflate ROE while adding risk, so read it alongside debt and ROIC.
