Net Margin
The share of revenue that survives all the way to bottom-line profit after every cost, tax, and interest payment. It captures the whole company’s efficiency in one number — two firms with identical sales can have very different net margins depending on costs and debt. Higher and rising is better; compare within a sector, since some industries are structurally thin-margin.
