How far today’s price sits below (or above) the average price target of the analysts covering the stock. A +25% reading means the consensus target is a quarter above where the stock trades now. It is the cleanest single read on how much room Wall Street thinks the name has, and it is one of the four inputs to this factor’s grade. Treat the level with some salt — sell-side targets sit above the current price on most stocks most of the time, so a modest positive is ordinary rather than bullish. What separates names is the size of the gap versus sector peers, which is exactly how this measure is scored.
