Where the company is headquartered, shown with its flag. It’s a quick read on which economy, currency, and set of regulations most affect the business. A stock can trade in US dollars on a US exchange yet earn most of its money — and face most of its risks — abroad: a company based in Europe or Asia rises and falls with its home market’s growth, currency swings, and politics, even when you buy it here. For a newcomer it’s a reminder that buying a foreign-domiciled company adds a layer of geographic and currency exposure on top of the company’s own story.
