200-Day Moving Average

The stock’s average price over roughly the last year of trading — the single most-watched long-term trend line on Wall Street. Many large investors treat a price above the 200-day average as a “bull market” for that stock and below it as a “bear market.” Because so many people watch it, it often acts as a meaningful support or resistance level. Read it together with the 50-day line: the 50 crossing above the 200 (a “golden cross”) or below it (a “death cross”) are closely-followed trend signals.
